17 Mar Apple Crumble!!!
Hey there guys!!
So I’m back in the kitchen for you today…hope you like Apple Crumble??!?
To be perfectly honest it’s never really been a big fave of mine, could always take it or leave it really, so have never bothered to baked it all that often. As in hardly at all. However the other day my eldest came trotting home from school with some that she’d baked in Food Tech, she absolutely LOVES it. We also happen to have quite alot of homegrown apples fresh from the tree hanging about our kitchen lately so she immediately wanted to bake more. I very rarely say no to children wanting to bake!! And my goodness did our kitchen smell DIVINE!!!!! Fresh baking apple crumble should be a perfume or candle scent or something. Delicious!! It also happens to be super super quick and easy to whip up and I consider it pretty healthy too.
Ok, so whilst she’s at school let’s have a sneaky look at her recipe……
Approx 8 medium size apples
1/3 cup raw sugar
1/3 cup water
a few shakes of cinnamon (maybe 1/2 teaspn)
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup oats
100 grams butter
1/2 cup coconut
Another few shakes of cinnamon
Peel and slice your apples, throw into a bowl with your raw sugar, water and cinnamon, mix until the apples are well coated in the sugar etc then place into your baking dish.
In another bowl throw in your oats, brown sugar, coconut and cinnamon then rub in the butter until you have a lovely crumbly mix.
Now spread your lovely crumbly mixture on top of your apples making sure to completely cover them.
Pop into a preheated 180 degree oven for about 30 minutes.
Appreciate how delicious your kitchen is smelling.
Dig in to the crumble whilst it’s still warm preferrably with a blob of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream on top.
Yep. I’m officially a crumble convert.
